Muse of the week: StyleHaul winner, Courtney Dang!
A dancer since the age of seven, Courtney Dang is from a small town called Oak Ridge in Tennessee. Dang was introduced to the piano at the age of six where she played throughout the end of her senior year in high school, but everyone knew that her true passion was for dance.
Dang was always dancing around the house when she was little so her mom had to put her in ballet classes. Soon enough, ballet was one of the six dance styles she trained in: ballet, modern, jazz, tap, pointe, & hip hop. She ended up teaching pre-school ballet, boys hip-hop, and assisting her teacher with jazz classes as she got older. Dang always knew that she wanted to dance in college.
Dang continues to dance throughout college at the University of Cincinnati where she has won national championships in 2014 & 2015, and world championships as a member of the USA National Team in 2013, 2014, 2015, & 2016. Dang will be entering her fifth year as a member of the University of Cincinnati Dance Team, six-time National Champions & now, ten-time World Champions. She is also entering her fifth year as an Information Technology major where she recently got accepted into the IT Accelerated Master’s of Health Informatics Program.
Dang has always loved taking videos ever since she was a little girl in middle school. She’s always been passionate about making fun videos with friends and recently started vlogging and sharing with others on YouTube. Dang started YouTubing makeup tutorials as well with the encouragement of her friends. She’s also always loved makeup ever since she was a little girl. She was always putting on her mother’s makeup & dancing around the house to Britney Spears. Dang gets inspired by other YouTubers & Instagrammers when it comes to vlogging and makeup. She loves sharing with others her experiences in different places. To her, everyone does his/her makeup so differently and it’s all so beautiful and inspiring. Some day, Dang would love to become a certified makeup artist and world traveler.
Courtney was selected by a contest we ran with our friends at StyleHaul. You can see all the entries here. The girls who entered had to submit a quote that inspired them and the winner (Courtney Dang) won 2 tickets to the In Living Pink Gala in NYC which took place this past Friday, May 20th (covered today on Daily Front Row ) and got to be this weeks featured muse which we shot on Sunday, May 22nd! Courtney's favorite quote was, “What’s meant to be will always find its way.” Courtney said, 'I’ve always believed that no matter what, if something is meant to be, then it will happen eventually." Selecting a winner from this incredible contest was very hard for me. All the entries were truly amazing. But, I do believe what is meant to be will be and sometimes it does not happen right away but if you have patience and believe in what you want it will! So with out further ado please meet our muse of the week and get to know more about her in my BTS Q&A interview! Also Courtney traveled with her bestie so we captured one of the shots below with them together. It was so wonderful to meet you both. xo, Stacy
1. Are you a Subway or Car (via, uber, lyft) girl?
I love driving myself everywhere. Uber/Lyft by night!
2. Favorite spot to be creative?
In front of a mirror from doing my make-up/hair, to picking out outfits, to dancing in front of it.
3. Causes you advocate for?
Racism, I believe that everyone is equal no matter what ethnicity he/she is. I hope some day the whole world will agree!
4. Favorite quote?
“What’s meant to be will always find its way.” I’ve always believed that no matter what, if something is meant to be, then it will happen eventually.
5. Tell us about your last moment you shared with someone?
I hugged & kissed my boyfriend goodbye before I left the house. Whenever I leave, I kiss my boyfriend, mom, dad, or sister goodbye & say I love them. As gloomy as it sounds, I am a big believer in telling/showing the people closest to you that you love them because you never know when it could be the last time.
