Stefaniya Chekalina is a fashion stylist based in New York and is also a fashion director of Velvetgrip shop based out of Russia. She is a freelance stylist in diverse notable publications, and consultant for young designers, brands and concept stores. For the last year she worked in a team with Anya Ziourova on various projects, also being involved in her work with Victoria's Secret.
Stefaniya likes working with new young and local talents like Daniel Gregory Natale, George Bezani and Xuan Xuan Li, but she also respects works of established artists, recently working on a photo project about Yohji Yamamoto with photographer Evgeny Popov and actors from the Sleep no More theatre.
Seeing Stefaniya style her Boy Meets Girl pieces in these photos shot by Spencer Kohn you can see she is our perfect muse of the week. We like to say our girl walks to her own beat and she leads the pack. Her style is fun and fearless, wild yet modest, strong but soft. Stefaniya makes the clothes look easy and effortless as well as functional and stunning. We are excited for you to learn about this talented stylist and muse of the week. Thank you Stefaniya for being our Muse of the Week. Learn even more about Stefaniya below in Stacy Igel's BTS Q&A interview:
1. Are you a Subway or Car (via, uber, lyft) girl?
None of that. I will definitely prefer walking in the night with my mister X.
2. Favorite spot to be creative?
I love traveling, I also fantasize a lot. I would say late night Tuesday's meetings in Antwerpen's Royal Conservatoire with Pina Bausch, Thom Yorke, Antonio Marras, Sara Moon, Andrey Tarkovsky and John Sargent could make me happy and creative.
3. Causes you advocate for?
Suicide prevention for young adults.
4. Favorite quote?
When I hear the word 'independent' I reach for my revolver. At this point, what the hell does that mean? The English Patient is an independent film. Hootie and the Blowfish are alternative music. I'm the Queen of Denmark. I don't know what it means anymore.
Jim Jarmusch
5. Tell us about your last moment you shared with someone?
From the really good ones - the Arca concert at the Bowery Ballroom last April with a friend of mine.
