A month ago, I held my first NYFW show in five years with my current collaborator ROOTS and my five-year old son sat front row at his mommy’s show. It was his first time to attend one of Mommy’s BOY MEETS GIRL®NYFW shows. It was a dream for me. The #ROOTSxBMG show was named “10 MOST MEMORABLE MOMENTS FROM NYFW” by Daily Front Row.
This past year and a half has been one of the best in my career with store distribution, new product classifications, and collaborations. I launched NBA collaborations with the Atlanta Hawks and my hometown team the Chicago Bulls (and even got to announce this collaboration at the United Center on the court), I launched a home collection in Target and Bed Bath & Beyond. I continued to grow my brand abroad in Finland and Asia. I launched an exclusive kids line at Saks Fifth Avenue, and I locked up my logo with ROOTS and launched in all their Asia and North America stores this past month and brought my Smiley Collaboration from Paris just last week exclusively to NEW YORK to Olive & Bette’s stores which was one of the first stores to buy my brand in 2001 along with Bergdorf Goodman.
What a ride it has been. I have been in business for almost 19 years! There have always been highs & lows and winding turns building my brand from scratch (Chicago Girl builds a brand in NYC, no family in the biz) but today March 18, 2020, almost a week ago from my event in NYC which was limited to 50 guests a lot has changed. See the recap here of our celebration of More Self Love at Olive & Bette's in NYC.
We are unfortunately facing a new moment. A moment that we hope will move fast so we can continue to have these events and share these special collaborations with you, as well as continue to do business & be in business. I have always been a confident woman. I have always stood for being fearless and believing all will work out in the end. Therefore, I will continue to stand for what I preach.
I recognize this is an unprecedented time across many industries due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. Many stores whom I work with are closing for 2-3 weeks and others are staying open, but closing corporate offices. I have temporarily closed our offices in the Garment Center, but we are all working from our homes now. We have always been a digital brand, and I said one day we would be all working remotely. With that being said, maybe what I have said is coming true. While we are dealing with all transitions, we still are here to service our customers, and we will be available via email and our social platforms as always.
I thank you for visiting our website www.boymeetsgirlusa.com, along with our partner's websites who carry our product. We are grateful to you as we will still at this time be shipping from our warehouses until further notice.
YOUR support means more than you know right now. I have given back over $500,000 to charity over my 19 years in business and at this time your support to my brand will help me continue to do what I love, as well as to give back in this trying time in our world.
New York City is where I built BOY MEETS GIRL® and the community that we have built from the heart of New York City and all around the world I am forever grateful for. Thank you so much for your loyalty. I hope you remain safe and sending you virtual hugs.
Do please share with us your images of you wearing BOY MEETS GIRL® or sitting with your pillows at HOME. Share with us through our share tag, #SHAREBOYMEETSGIRL & my new tag #BOYMEETSGIRLATHOME, for a chance to be shared on our platforms how you are getting through this with positivity.
Your photos give me light and make me happy and keep me inspired to keep doing what I love. Thank you to my teams here and all around the world.
