Muse of the Week: Claire Geist
Claire Geist has been developing and photographing posts for her personal style blog, De Lune since her sophomore year of high school. Every post she creates (unless stated otherwise) is shot with nobody else but her and her tripod- no blogger boyfriends here! A graduate from the New School in NYC + a couple years' stint in the vintage industry, her style is deeply personal and rooted in retro play. When she in’t fumbling around Brooklyn with her tripod, Claire works as an image curator at Twitter.
It is my pleasure to introduce you to Claire, our muse of the week who embodies what our girl is all about. Coming off this past holiday weekend Claire summed up what her last moment she shared with someone was all about. "The 4th of July was spent with old friends in old places, lots of belly laughs and home made ice cream in Long Island!" Get to know more about Claire below in my BTS Q&A interview! Thank you Claire for being part of this weeks feature and for spreading your creativity all over.
xo, Stacy
1. Are you a Subway or Car (via, uber, lyft) girl?
Oooh, always depends where I’m going, I’m guilty of taking a $6 Uber pool here and there if it’s someplace I need to get to super quickly. Other than that, if I’m paying for a monthly Metrocard, I’m gonna use it!
2. Favorite spot to be creative?
At the end of my bed, which I kind of turned into a couch by placing all my pillows against the wall, It’s a good place to survey my room and look out at my wall full of pinned-up photographs I’ve collected from thrift stores over the years.
3. Causes you advocate for?
Getting more young people involved in their local government, right down to neighborhood advocacy groups! Anyone who can vote has a say in how they would like to help improve their community in any way.
4. Favorite quote?
Less about the quote itself, and more about who said it
“I tend to be rather inconsequential and trail off.” - Edward Gorey
Edward Gorey illustrated a long library of books in his lifetime, and his work captured my imagination at a young age. To know that he allowed himself to just follow his own instincts, create work at his own pace, and not take anything more seriously than necessary, reminds me to always pursue what’s good in me, rather than become caught up in the increasingly fast pace of the world we’re in.
5. Tell us about your last moment you shared with someone?
The 4th of July was spent with old friends in old places, lots of belly laughs and home made ice cream in Long Island!
